Gauri Malla is a Nepali actress. In 2002, she was awarded Nepal’s “Motion Picture Award” for best leading female.[1] In 2003, she won the “Best Supporting Actress Award” at the first ever Lux Film Awards in Nepal.Singha Durbar the political drama directed by Tsering Rhitar Sherpa, Starrs Gauri Malla, as the first female Prime Minister of Nepal who wants to, “establish a governance system of transparency, accountability and collaborative leadership”. In Nepal, stories that feature political issues have mostly been limited to slapstick comedies. According to the producer, Yubakar Raj Rajkarnikar, Singha Durbar is a story about the government and its work processes, and how leaders in the government can work in a collaborative manner for the development of the country.“It is also a story celebrating the governance and leadership, and the people’s involvement in the government and leadership,” he states further. The TV series is produced by Search for Common Ground Nepal with Mila Productions as its production partner, and supported by USAID.
