Jhilmil lake’ of Kanchanpur, Bhimdatta municipality-9 attached to Chure has disappeared. The lake is a very popular tourist spot and it has happened because of lack of conservation.

Jhilmil lake which lies in Kanchanpur 25 km away from the Chure Range is a very beautiful place. The lake is 680 m above the sea level and is surrounded by hills.

There is no place for water to exit and there are strange fishes there. The lake changes it’s color 3 times a day. The lake is very clean even though it is surrounded by jungle.

There is no proper conservation of the lake which carries a natural, historical and a religious importance and now the lake has disappeared.

The lake has been buried because of the mud brought by the water with it. And tourists also do not go there because of lack of 7 km road that reaches the lake.

A member of the lake conserving committee said that because of lack of proper living hotels and toilets, the place has not been able to develop.
