Doctors involved in the treatment ailing General Secretary of Nepali Congress (NC) Sashank Koirala have said that his heart stopped for a moment while undergoing treatment.Koirala is placed in ICU at Chabahil-based Om Hospital after he began vomitting frequently early Wednesday. He was admitted to the Hospital on Tuesday evening after being suffered from sudden vomiting. Doctors have diagnosed aspiration pneumonia.According to the doctors, Koirala inhaled some vomit particles into his lungs while he was in the hospital last night after which he stopped breathing and his heart too stopped beating simultaneously, a doctor involved in his treatment told Setopati, adding, “Luckily we managed to ‘rescue’ him.”According to him, Koirala is completely unconscious and ‘critical.’ He is placed at ventilator to support him breath.Senior doctors in Kathmandu have been summoned at the Hospital for Koirala’s treatment.The doctor added that Koirala’s case is critical and that they can take further step only after how his health progresses in coming hours.He further said that Koirala’s health condition does not permit him to fly abroad for treatment yet.
